Marc-David Munk, MD, MPH, MHCM
I am a palliative medicine physician at Tufts Medical Center, a teaching hospital located in Boston.
As a former healthcare executive, I have held leadership roles at innovative healthcare organizations in the U.S., including Chief Medical Officer positions at Iora Health, Reliant Medical Group, and CVS Health's MinuteClinic. I have significant experience working abroad, including six years spent as an expatriate medical director and healthcare executive in the Middle East, where I focused on developing healthcare delivery models in emerging markets.
I am a board member of both Amref Health Africa (Canada), which supports Africa's largest health-focused NGO, and the Carlin Foundation. I completed a fellowship in international health at the University of Pittsburgh and hold a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the Gorgas Program in Peru.
Earlier in my career, I was an attending emergency physician, flight surgeon, and medical director at university trauma centers, including the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center.
I am a writer of both nonfiction and fiction. My book, Urgent Calls from Distant Places, received critical acclaim for its compelling storytelling and was named Best Travel Book of 2024 by IndieReader. My next book, currently underway, explores the intersection of palliative care, healthcare policy, human frailty, and the inevitable decisions we all face at life's end.
